Open Position: Audio Visual Engineer, for our Bellevue office

The Audio Visual Engineer is responsible for developing details and drawings to support on-going audio visual business. Your primary goal and responsibility is to design user friendly and reliable systems that meets or exceeds the systems requirements outlined in our proposals, within the budget. This should be done by applying innovative and cost effective design solutions incorporating products from our key partners in accordance with industry standard design principals.

This position requires you to work with Avidex team members and the construction schedules of our clients to accomplish the design and necessary documents that define the systems during the installation process. The documentation is not limited to the initial phases, but includes final documents up to completion of the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend internal kick-off meeting to obtain clarification on scope, budget and expectations.
  • Verify and understand the labor budget, equipment delivery schedule, and the scope of work and construction drawings.
  • Conduct site survey, where necessary or appropriate, to gather information on a project.
  • Develop an equipment list with supporting parts and materials.
  • Develop a documentation package that includes: System Architectural, Conduit, Structural, Millwork and Electrical requirements.
  • System wireplan. (i.e. wirepull) and wire-by-wire block diagrams.
  • Schedules, notes, various diagrams, equipment rack elevations and other details necessary to describe and document the engineered audiovisual system.
  • Control System user-interface preliminary design with button description, when applicable.
  • Assist with project quoting and estimation when needed.
  • Manage and assist the Project Manager and Project Administrator in developing change orders.
  • Promote a balanced commitment to customer satisfaction and performing work within budget.
  • Provide field support and expertise to the installation staff on jobs utilizing a combined skill set of engineering, equipment configuration, basic programming, troubleshooting, documentation, etc.
  • During the job commissioning phase maintain an on-going dialog with PM, ensuring that the systems quality and performance meets job requirements.
  • Assure each system’s physical completeness is in accordance with installation drawings and specifications.
  • Provide systems testing, commissioning and prepare punch lists.
  • Assist with project closeout and take appropriate steps and measures to assure Final Acceptance by customer.

Position Requirements:

  • Understanding and demonstration of audio visual systems design and functions as they apply to the audio and video industry.
  • Understanding and demonstration of basic networking skills as they apply to the audio and video industry.
  • Demonstrate a proficiency in the current AutoCAD software program to a level of creating new documentation, incorporating and/or altering original work from architects and interior designers.
  • Ability to read construction blueprints.
  • Demonstrate good communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Willingness to operate within and promote a team oriented environment.
  • Demonstrate problem solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Demonstrate ability to meet necessary deadlines.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and effective time management.
  • Demonstrate effective relationship building.
  • Remain current in emerging AV-related technologies.


  • 3+ years experience within the audio and video industry.
  • Two-year electronics degree or comparable work experience.
  • ICIA Essentials of A/V & General CTS.
  • ICIA On-site Design or Installation CTS (preferred).
  • Competent computer skills: Microsoft Office, typing, etc
  • Willingness to learn, exceed customers' expectations and a solid work ethic.
