Hospital and Clinic
Boardroom and Command Center
SCOPE: Helping physicians, other caregivers and staff work effectively in support of patient care is a top priority for hospitals. Avidex was contracted to design and build an audio visual and control system for a Hospital Boardroom as well as a Command Center in a large Hospital in Palo Alto, CA. The room is heavily used in a variety of ways including board meetings, non-board meetings and presentations. It also serves as a Disaster Recovery Command Center during a crisis event. The Command Center is utilized by professionals who depend upon the technology in the room to enable them to quickly evaluate issues, communicate with outside personnel, manage resources, and make operational decisions.
In order to facilitate the mixed use of the space, Avidex designed a display system that includes a total of wall mounted 70" flat panel displays and a front projection system. A high definition video conferencing system with cameras was installed in order to capture video from different locations in the room. A professional audio system including ceiling mounted speakers, integrated table microphones and a digital audio processing system is used to switch and control audio from all of the microphones and programed audio sources. A digital video matrix switcher was provided and installed for routing and switching of the computer and video sources. Avidex' programmers developed a custom graphical user interface for the table top control panel which allows users to easily control the systems. Users can select from a variety of available sources to display on any or all of the displays in the room and/or play over the room's audio system.
Since this project was in a Hospital, Avidex executed the design and installation in accordance with OSHPD and Biomed regulations.
